Why does the Real Mycelium™ label say "Contains Milk and Soy"? Is it vegan?

Real Mycelium™ is not considered vegan. During the fermentation process, milk-derived protein and soy protein isolate are used as food sources in the liquid nutrient broth that grows the Lion's Mane mycelium.

The mycelium is separated from the liquid medium before being freeze-dried, and testing has shown that milk and soy proteins are not detected in the finished product. However, because milk and soy are used during manufacturing, they're listed on the label as a precautionary allergen disclosure.

If you have a milk or soy allergy, or any serious food allergy, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider before using Real Mycelium™.
